Legal ladies first at ALEP’s 10th anniversary conference: Ellodie Gibbons and Anna Favre named as hosts

Two of the legal sector’s leading lights have been named as joint hosts for the Association of Leasehold and Enfranchisement Practitioners’ (ALEP) landmark 20th conference, which takes place on 23rd March 2017. The conference marks 10 years at the forefront of enfranchisement excellence for ALEP and its members.

Anna Favre, Partner, Residential Real Estate at Pemberton Greenish will take to the stage, alongside Ellodie Gibbons, Barrister at Tanfield Chambers.

Both are highly regarded in the property enfranchisement sector with an impressive collection of accolades and awards to their names.

Anna Favre specialises in both residential landlord and tenant issues, advising landlords and tenants on all aspects of their tenure of residential property. She was recently named as Real Estate Lawyer of the Year at the Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards 2016. In addition, Pemberton Greenish was one of the first firms to become an ALEP member.
Commenting on her co-hosting duties, Anna said: “I feel delighted and privileged to be part of such as key industry event.

Ellodie Gibbons has been recommended in both Chambers UK and the Legal 500. Her principal areas of practice are all aspects of commercial and residential leases (both short and long), with a particular emphasis on service and administration charge disputes, leasehold enfranchisement, right to manage and rights of first refusal.

Ellodie was one of the first barristers to join ALEP when barrister membership was launched four years ago, and commented: “I am very flattered and honoured to be announced as co-host of the next ALEP conference. Colleagues in the enfranchisement sector look forward to ALEP conferences and I am eager to engage with delegates to highlight key issues our industry faces.”

The 20th landmark conference will be held on 23rd March 2017 at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The conference will be followed by a gala dinner to celebrate ALEP’s 10th anniversary at the forefront of leasehold enfranchisement.

Anna and Ellodie will be navigating delegates through ‘The Anatomy of a Claim’ and will be joined by a panel of experts to discuss topical issues arising in practice and case law in this ‘start to finish’ journey through the stages of a claim. These interactive sessions will offer all delegates – be they valuation or legally biased – a unique insight into the stages of a collective enfranchisement claim from our experts’ differing perspectives. Debate and interactive voting will feature throughout.

In November 2016, the Conveyancing Association presented a White Paper on ‘Modernising the Home Moving Process’, which called for amendments to the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act to resolve the unreasonable cost and delay associated with leasehold sales process.

Beth Rudolf, Director of Delivery, The Conveyancing Association, will join the ALEP stage, in order to formally introduce the organisation, present its key research findings in relation to leasehold transactions and discuss how ALEP members could advise on some of the trickier issues faced by conveyancers.
